Vintage Chrome Faux Bamboo Occasional Table with Barrel-top - 20th Century

A very decorative vintage occasional table with a stylish chromed faux-bamboo tripod base, probably dating from the mid 20th century. The sculptural metal base is formed as three crossed bamboo-style supports, giving the table a light, elegant appearance with a distinctly Hollywood Regency / mid-century feel. The table would originally have been fitted with a glass top, however this has been removed at some point and replaced with a circular wooden top made from reclaimed barrel-style staves, giving it a much more rustic and individual look. The timber top has a warm aged surface with visible grain, wear and stave construction, creating a really attractive contrast with the polished chrome base. A characterful and useful piece that would work well as a side table, drinks table or occasional table in either a traditional or more eclectic interior.
