Vintage British Royal “LONG LIVE THE QUEEN” Hand-Painted Banner – c.1950s Coronation Era
A rare and impressive hand-painted British royal celebration banner, measuring an exceptional 410 cm x 73 cm (13 ft 5 in x 2 ft 5 in). Painted in bold white lettering with blue shadowing on red cloth, the banner proclaims “LONG LIVE THE QUEEN”, a patriotic slogan strongly associated with the accession and 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Large decorative banners of this type were commonly produced locally for village celebrations, street parties and civic events, but comparatively few have survived.
This example retains its original character, displaying honest age-related wear and patina that reflect its use as a public display piece. Its substantial size makes it a striking decorative item for collectors of royal memorabilia, vintage textiles, or historic British ephemera.
