Victorian Stained Pine Glazed Dwarf Bookcase / Display Cabinet, c.1890 A particularly attractive late Victorian stained pine dwarf bookcase, dating to around 1890 and of a wonderfully useful compact size. The pair of glazed doors open to reveal two fixed shelves, both retaining their charming scalloped leather dust-cover edging. Above is a separate lidded storage compartment, providing useful concealed storage. The stained pine has developed a lovely warm colour and aged surface, with plenty of character from more than a century of use. At only 94.5cm high and 87.5cm wide, it’s a very versatile piece. It would work beautifully as a low bookcase, display cabinet or collector’s cabinet, particularly for books, studio pottery, ceramics or other smaller collections.
