A wonderful pair of vintage circular clip-on sunglasses, dating to the 1930s–1940s and supplied by the London opticians Stercks Martin of 43 New Cavendish Street, W.1. Featuring round tinted glass lenses held within fine metal frames, with an unusual shaped wire bridge and small retaining clips designed to attach the sunglasses over a pair of prescription spectacles. Complete with their original brown fitted case, lined in velvet and gilt-stamped: STERCKS MARTIN 43 NEW CAVENDISH ST. W.1. A particularly stylish surviving piece of pre-war / mid-century British eyewear, made all the more appealing by the original named London optician’s case.
