A superb quarter-sawn oak parlour table, dating from around 1895–1905. Crafted from beautifully figured quarter-sawn oak, the top displays striking medullary ray figuring, often referred to as “tiger oak”, giving the piece exceptional warmth and character. The table features an elegant shaped top with a matching shaped undertier, supported by finely turned legs. It stands on its original cast metal claw-and-glass-ball feet, retaining the original hand-blown glass balls, complete with the characteristic air bubbles found in period glass—a lovely detail that collectors appreciate. Originally intended for the Victorian parlour, this versatile table would now make an ideal lamp table, occasional table or side table, fitting equally well into both traditional and contemporary interiors. Presented in good antique condition with a rich patina and honest signs of age and use, including some light wear to the top consistent with over 120 years of service, adding to its authentic character. A particularly attractive and well-preserved example of late Victorian craftsmanship.
