Pair of Sowerby Art Deco Green Pressed Glass – Pattern 2550 Jug & Posy Vase

A striking pair of vintage green pressed glassware's dating from the early 20th century, circa 1930s, comprising a Sowerby-style jug and an impressive sharing sundae cup. Both pieces have the bold geometric form, strong colour and decorative detailing associated with the Art Deco period, making them as appealing for display today as they would have been for use at the table. Sowerby Jug – Pattern No. 2550 A particularly attractive green pressed glass jug, identified as Pattern No. 2550 and commonly attributed to Sowerby Glassworks. The jug has an elegant architectural form, with vertical column-like detailing, decorative swag motifs and a circular pedestal foot. The translucent green glass gives it a wonderful presence, particularly when displayed in natural light. Originally intended for serving water, lemonade or similar refreshments, it now works equally well as a decorative piece, vase or functional table jug.
