A charming pair of hand-carved wooden folk figures depicting a Serbian rural man and woman in traditional dress. The male figure, standing 25 cm high, wears customary regional attire including cap, waistcoat and breeches, while the female figure, 21 cm high, is shown carrying domestic vessels, reflecting everyday village life. The carvings retain a warm, natural patina and display good naïve detail, with expressive faces and well-defined clothing. Each figure stands on its original integral base. The male figure bears an incised inscription reading “ШУСТАДИНАЦ: СРБИА” (Šustadinac, Serbia), indicating regional origin. Likely dating from the early to mid 20th century, these pieces would have been produced either by a local craftsman or for the ethnographic or tourist market, and today make attractive decorative objects with genuine cultural character. A decorative and collectible pair of Eastern European folk art, ideal for display in a traditional or eclectic interior.
