Pair of 1930s Chrome Swan Neck Student Lamps with Emerald Green Pendants

A stylish near pair of Art Deco student lamps dating from circa 1930, each with a curved chrome swan-neck stem, decorative pressed base and green glass shade. Although closely matched in appearance, the lamps differ slightly in their proportions and in the detailing of the pressed chrome bases, indicating that they were likely produced as individual period pieces rather than as an exact factory pair. Both lamps have been sensitively updated for modern use, professionally rewired with braided 3-core cable and fitted with new chrome push-button switches. The work has been carried out in a way that preserves the overall period appearance. The green glass shades provide a strong decorative contrast to the chrome and give the lamps a particularly distinctive Art Deco character. They work well as desk lamps, bedside lighting or as a decorative pair on a console or sideboard. The lamps are in good vintage condition overall, with expected age-related wear, light surface marking and patination to the chrome. One lamp has a small crack to the base, which is shown clearly in the photographs. There are also slight differences in size and construction between the two.
