A highly decorative late 19th Century (circa 1890) antique armchair in the Jacobean Revival taste, retaining its original tapestry upholstery. The substantial dark timber frame features scrolling open arms, barley-twist supports and stretchers, turned legs and a richly carved front rail with bold foliate detailing. The original tapestry upholstery depicts a romantic pastoral scene in soft, muted tones and has developed an attractive aged character consistent with its period. A striking country house-style chair with strong decorative presence, ideal as an occasional chair in a hallway, bedroom, study or sitting room.
