Item Details
A handsome Scottish vernacular joined armchair of traditional Glasgow pattern, dating from the late Victorian period. Constructed in solid hardwood, the chair displays the robust and practical design for which these regional chairs are renowned, featuring a boarded seat, shaped arms and well-proportioned joined frame.
The elegant swept arms terminate above turned supports, whilst the simple ladder-back arrangement and stretchered base reflect the honest craftsmanship and functional character associated with Scottish country furniture of the period.
Displaying a rich colour and pleasing patina throughout, this is an attractive and highly usable example, equally suited to a hall, study, fireside or country house interior.
