A beautiful antique Kashmiri hand-painted table lamp dating to the turn of the 20th century, expertly decorated in the traditional papier-mâché style with vibrant floral and fruit motifs on a rich black lacquered ground. The finely turned wooden body is profusely hand-painted with pomegranates, blossoms and foliage, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship for which Kashmiri decorative arts are renowned. The lamp retains an attractive aged patina with honest wear to the painted decoration, enhancing its character and authenticity. The lamp has been professionally rewired and fitted with a quality brass BC/B22 bayonet lampholder, making it ready for use while preserving its period appearance.
