Antique Georgian Cuban Mahogany Drop-Leaf Table
A fine Georgian drop-leaf table crafted from richly figured Cuban mahogany, dating to the mid-to-late 18th century. This elegant and highly practical piece exemplifies the refined proportions and craftsmanship of the Georgian period.
Designed with versatility in mind, the table functions as a slim console table when the leaves are down and transforms into an oval dining or serving table when fully extended. The leaves are supported by a traditional gate-leg mechanism, with two pivoting legs providing excellent stability when opened.
The table stands on graceful cabriole legs with flowing S-shaped curves, terminating in classic pad feet, a defining feature of Georgian furniture from the George II–George III era. The mahogany has developed a deep, warm patina over time, enhancing the natural grain and colour for which Cuban mahogany is particularly prized.
A timeless and highly sought-after form, valued by collectors for both its historical importance and everyday usability.
