A rustic and authentic late 18th century French Lorraine chair, dating to around 1780. Constructed in oak with hand-cut dowel joints, this provincial piece captures the honest craftsmanship of its time. The chair has a seat height of 41cm, with an overall seat length of 39cm and depth of 39cm. It shows the charming irregularities expected of age, including some movement in the joints, light distortion, and traces of historic woodworm (long since treated). The surface has developed a rich, well-worn patina, adding depth and character. With its shaped aprons, turned stretchers and simple upright back, this piece exudes understated French country elegance. A wonderful survivor of 18th century provincial furniture, perfect as a decorative accent or collector’s piece. • Joints show some movement • Signs of age-related distortion • Evidence of old woodworm (treated) • Rich, aged patina throughout
